Background

The Grain Marketing Board Training Centre is a human capital development institution which is registered under the Zimbabwe Manpower Planning and Development Act (Chapter 28:02). Our core mandate is to provide post-harvest management courses (such as grain grading and fumigation), Entreprise Management Systems training (SAP) , marketing management and customer care, executive development programmes, management and supervisory development programmes development (MDP and SDP) courses and agribusiness related consultancy services in an endeavour to bridge the skills gap of various employees in the different staffing levels of GMB and related sectors in Zimbabwe and beyond. The Centre is ideally located adjacent to Zimbabwe’s busiest Depot Aspindale in Aspindale in Lonchnivar Industrial area. It is endowed with spacious parking areas, internet connectivity, catering services and leisure facilities. It is in an environment suitable for learning.

Training and Continuous Professional Development

The centre provide training and continuous professional development courses in both hard and soft skills. These courses are offered onsite and offsite and are tailor made to meet specifically identified training needs and external customer requirements.

These are offered in all sectors of the economy The Training Centre outsource facilitators and consultants drawing from our database to address contemporary issues bedevilling all sections of the organisation. We believe in engaging highly qualified experts with hands on experience in their respective areas of expertise so as to add that vital practical element to knowledge that participants may already possess. Conference Facilities We provide a state of the art venue for organisational and private functions to include conferencing, weddings, parties, cocktails only to mention a few. We tailor make in-door and outdoor facilities to meet your specific requirements. We also boost of a well maintained sports club that have good amenities such as football, netball and volleyball pitches.

GMB Depots

The Grain Marketing Board offers fumigation services to clients as a commercial service. The primary purpose of fumigation is to control insects, their eggs, larvae, and pupae in stored produce. Since fumigants are highly toxic to mammals, they also have a beneficial effect on rodents. However, this also means that fumigants are extremely toxic to humans, so fumigation can only be carried out by well-trained staff. When applied correctly, fumigants are highly effective. The small gas molecules easily penetrate large stacks and reach individual grains, effectively killing all stages of pest development.

The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) stores and distributes farming inputs through various Government Supported Inputs Distribution programs. Current programs include the Presidential Well-wishers Inputs Program, which targets vulnerable groups, and the Command Agriculture Inputs Program, run under the CBZ Agro Yield Inputs Program. Farming inputs, such as seeds, basal, and top-dressing fertilizers, are distributed through GMB depots nationwide.
