When NATURE calls, who can ignore it? Maslow's hierarchy of needs ranked sex in the category of basic physiological needs. Yes it is the most basic thing we all cannot do without naturally, it is by God's creation. However God has created it beautifully by affording us an opportunity to choose only one (1) lawful partner, from whom to obtain our sexual satisfaction. We however choose to be exposed to HIV & AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases due to lust and greed and these have exposed our vulnerability to:-
Casual unprotected sex e.g one night stand
Multiple unprotected sex
Sex for commercial purposes i.e. commoditizing our bodies in exchange for financial gains
Paying for favours such as job seeking
Absolute power corrupts, where good man and women become bad through sexual abuse and exploitation while in high offices
The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has an HIV & AIDS Policy which allows for an HIV & AIDS cover benefit providing for access to treatment to employees who are infected and or affected. This Policy is further supported by Ministry of Agriculture Mechanisation and Irrigation Development's HIV and Aids strategy which challenges those in the Agriculture sector to do something about HIV & Aids for purpose of boosting wellness agriculture for high productivity. Furthermore the policy seeks to support the concept of living positively and longer with the virus. It takes away the belief that once someone is infected, that is the end of life. Through the GMB's health care fund Agricultural Medical Aid Society (AGRIMED), infected and affected employees benefit through:-
Visits to Doctors and medical consultations i.e. on nutritional guidance, medication to take, medical investigation to determine CD4 counts and when to start taking treatment.
Laboratory tests i.e. pathological tests like throat swabs and X-Rays.
Access to drugs, antibiotics, painkillers, creams, antiretroviral drugs, and anything of related nature.
Hospitalization, drugs and ambulance services.
Within 24 hours of exposure, visit Doctors for prophylaxis a procedure done to inhibit the virus from spreading.
It is not a curse or witchcraft to be infected with HIV & AIDS virus but just a reality of life.
Have more faith in modern medicine than in faith and traditional healers because modern medicine has proven and tested treatment methods.
Everyone is called upon to support the infected and affected emotionally and materially.
It is not a case for gossip because tomorrow it could be you.
