Mr Rockie Mutenha is the new General Manager for the Grain Marketing Board. He joined GMB early this month from the Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA), another parastatal under the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development. Previously he has held executive positions with various reputable organisations which include' Agricultural Finance Corporation (Branch Manager – 10 yrs), Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (General Manager Operations – 7 years), FSI Cotton Pvt Ltd. (General Manager Operations – 3 years), Cairns Foods (SBU Director – Canning – 2 years) and Westbay Agro Industries (MD for 2 years).
In all the above organisations, he has been instrumental in the formulation and implementation of turn-around strategies, among them being: Agricultural lending policies; Contract farming schemes; Inputs credit schemes; Business re-structuring and change management. The Minister of Agriculture , Mechanisation and Irrigation Development, Dr Joseph Made was the first to make the announcement in the local media. “Mr Mutenha has been appointed to the post of General Manager for the GMB with immediate effect,” he was quoted by The Herald newspaper in its 6th of May 2017 edition.
Dr Made said “GMB required strategic leadership to carry out the function of ensuring the strategic grain reserve and Mutenha would work on that.” Mr Mutenha is a holder of three Master Degrees namely MSc Marketing, Msc Strategic Mananagement and an MBA. The GMB did not have a susbstantive General Manager for the past two years after Mr Albert Mandizha left the parastatal after serving it between 2008 and 2014.
